FAIRFIELD, CT. (THECOUNT) — Joselito Calderon, of Stratford, Connecticut, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Sunday shooting in Fairfield County.
Calderon, 54, was killed, and another man injured, in a shooting at a Bridgeport restaurant early Sunday morning.
According to reports, police responded to a call of shots fired at the Copa restaurant, located at near Lexington Avenue and Harral Avenue in Bridgeport around 1 a.m. When they arrived, Calderon and Niel Francisco, 30, of Bridgeport, were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Both men were transported to area hospitals where Calderon, a well-known martial artist, was pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.
Francisco is expected to survive.
Police said they are working several leads in the case, and all resources — including those from state and federal agencies — are being used to find those responsible.
