BERGEN COUNTY, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Danny Vasquez of Jersey City, New Jersey, has been identified as the driver in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Fairview before dawn Monday.

Vasquez, 24, remanded himself into custody following a deadly hit-and-run vehicle strike that killed a pedestrian early Monday morning.

According to reports, Vasquez was operating a Toyota Sienna, registered to his father, when he fatally struck a pedestrian while driving on the sidewalk around 3:30 a.m. Monday. Vasquez then exited the vehicle and fled the scene on-foot.

Vasquez later turned himself in to the North Bergen police headquarters Monday afternoon.

The pedestrian has not yet been identified by officials.

Vasquez, an FDU and Dickinson High School graduate, is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and endangering the welfare of a victim.
