SURRY COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Paul Lee Zink, of Clemmons, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday afternoon fatal motorcycle crash in Surry County.
Zink, 44, was killed in a motorcycle crash involving another vehicle near Mt Airy Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, Zinc was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle on Interstate 74 near the NC-89 exit, when the bike came into contact with a slow moving vehicle around 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
Police say, the accident occurred as Zink’s family members were traveling behind him in a passenger vehicle.
David Speight, interim Surry emergency services director, called the wreck “a sad situation” due to the incident unfolding right in front of the family members.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
