RALEIGH COUNTY, WV. (THECOUNT) — Dwayne Richardson has been identified as the Woodrow Wilson High School basketball player fatally shot Sunday night in Raleigh County, West Virginia.

Richardson, 18, was shot dead near Beckley on Sunday night.

According to reports, Beckley Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 500 block of Terrill Street in Beckley. When they arrived, Richardson was found suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Richardson was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounce dead of gunshot injuries.

No suspect or motive information was provided by officials as of Monday morning.

The cause of the fatal incident remains under investigation.
