OUACHITA PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Desiree Day, of West Monroe, Louisiana, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck Wednesday night by a vehicle in Ouachita Parish.
Day, 42, was killed after she was struck by a vehicle in West Monroe Wednesday night.
According to reports, Day was on-foot in the 1400 block of Natchitoches Street, when she was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 69-year-old Ronald Barnett around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Barnett remained on-scene and cooperated with arriving officials.
Day was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Impairment is not suspected, but toxicologically results are pending.
The investigation into the cause of the deadly incident remains ongoing.
