RANKIN COUNTY, MS. (THECOUNT) — Kyle T. Dixon, of Jackson, Mississippi, has been identified as the Wednesday night wrong-way driver that killed three people, including two small children in Rankin County.
Dixon, 54, was injured in the crash near Luka that killed Tamaria Shumake, 32, Ambrosia Isaac, 8, and Zylan Shumake, 5, all of Carthage, Mississippi, Wednesday night.
According to reports, Dixon was operating a Toyota Sequoia the wrong-way on MS25 in Rankin County, when the vehicle came into head-on contact with a Chrysler PT Cruiser, operated by Shumake around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The three victims in the PT Cruiser were transported to an area hospital where they were later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
Dixon was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
