GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Carl E. Cheeseman Jr., of Vineland, New Jersey, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday night vehicle crash in Gloucester County.
Cheeseman, 30, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor near Newfield Wednesday night.

According to reports, Cheeseman was operating a Nissan Murano SUV on Harding Way near Rosemont Avenue in Newfield, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 11 p.m. Wednesday. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with a big-rig, operated by Samuel Barrera-Ortuno, 28 of Vineland.
Police say, Cheeseman may have been attempting to avoid a deer in the roadway before the collision occurred.
Cheeseman was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Barrera-Ortuno remained at the scene and fully cooperated with officials.
Police said they don’t suspect alcohol or drugs as a factor in the crash.
THECOUNT.COM has learned, Cheeseman was arrested in Vineland for DWI and Reckless Driving in 2016.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
