JEFFERSON COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Richard Miser, of Jewett, Ohio, has been identified as the victim in a Tuesday murder-suicide in Jefferson County. Terry Miller, of Hammondsville, Ohio, has been identified as the deceased shooter.

Miser, 69, was fatally shot by 67-year-old Miller, who then turned the gun on himself Tuesday morning.

According to reports, officials responded to a call of shots fired early Tuesday morning around 1:30 a.m. at a Jefferson County residence. When they arrived, Miller and Miser were found suffering from apparent gunshot injuries.

Police later learned that Miller shot Miser and then turned the gun on himself.

Miller’s former girlfriend, Miser’s current girlfriend, was forced to watch the killing, according to the Jefferson County sheriff.

The department mentioned the passing of Fire Chief, Dennis ‘Denny’ Kovarik, although it is unclear how or when he died.

The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
