MI GVSU Student Taylor DeRosa ID’d As Body Found On Allendale Campus Tuesday

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI. (THECOUNT) — Taylor DeRosa, of Royal Oak, Michigan, has been identified as the woman found dead Tuesday in Ottawa County.

DeRosa, a Grand Valley State University student, was found dead on-campus in Allendale Tuesday.

GVSU president Philomena Mantella said the the following on the grim discovery:

“Taylor became part of our on-campus community as a first-year student this Fall semester, our thoughts and prayers surround the DeRosa family during this tragic time.”

The school is located at, 1 Campus Dr, Allendale, Michigan.

DeRosa’s cause of death is under investigation.

Police said there didn’t appear to be a threat to the public or campus community as of Tuesday.

According to family members, DeRosa was found dead on Saturday, however, police said the body was located Tuesday. On Saturday, a body was also located off-campus. GVSU police said the death wasn’t related to an incident being shared on social media.

On Dec. 12, a text message was sent to students after a runner reported a body south of West Campus Drive near the intramural athletic fields.

“There was an entirely separate incident occurring off campus involving a fight and a white car that is being shared on social media,” they said in a Facebook post said. “That is under a separate investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.”
