SMITH COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Cody West, of Tyler, Texas, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Thursday night vehicle crash in Smith County.
West, 22, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Lindale Thursday night.
According to reports, West was operating a pickup truck on Farm to Market Road 849 near Lindale, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway Thursday night. The vehicle then made contact with a substantial tree before entering a culvert.
West was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
