OUACHITA PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Michael Woodgate, of Monroe, Louisiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Tuesday bicycle collision in Ouachita Parish.
Woodgate, 28, was killed in a bicycle-versus-SUV collision Tuesday evening near Monroe.
According to reports, Woodgate was operating a bicycle on LA-139 near Bayou Oaks Drive, when for unknown reasons, the bike entered a travel lane of LA-139. The bike then came into contact with a Chevrolet Silverado around 4: 20 p.m. Tuesday.
Woodgate was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Woodgate, who was originally from Boroughbridge, England, was named the head coach of the champion University of Louisiana Monroe Warhawk Water Ski Team in May of 2019.
The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
