BLACK HAWK COUNTY, IA. (THECOUNT) — Isaac Roerig of Sioux City, Iowa, has been identified as the teenage pedestrian in a fatal Friday vehicle 18-wheeler in Black Hawk County.
Roerig, 19, was killed in a semi-versus-pedestrian strike on US-20 near Cedar Falls Friday afternoon.
According to reports, the University of Northern Iowa freshman was on-foot in travel lanes of US-20 when he was struck by a passing big-rig, operated by James Ricke, 71, of Fort Dodge.
Roerig was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
Ricke was uninjured in the collision.
The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
