HARTFORD COUNTY, CT. (THECOUNT) — Jaqhawn Walters, of Hartford, Connecticut, has been identified as the victim of a fatal Saturday shooting in Hartford County.
Walters, 24, former star basketball star at Albertus Magnus College, was shot and killed in Hartford Saturday.
According to reports, Walters was in the area of Main Street in Hartford, when 33-year-old Jason Stone opened fire on the Falcons athlete during an apparent argument.
Walters was transported to an area hospital by private vehicle where he later was pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.
Stone later contacted police and confessed to the killing. He was arrested and charged with murder. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.
The Courant reports that surveillance shows a brief fight between two men, followed by the shooting.

Albertus Magnus President Marc Camille said the college would hold a prayer service in Walters’ memory.
“For those of us fortunate enough to know Jaqhawn, or ‘JQ’ as he was affectionately known to so many, we remember his beaming smile and larger than life personality, bringing joy to everyone around him, whether it was on the basketball court, in the classroom, or in spaces across our campus,” Camille said in a statement on the college website.
