SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Anna Marika Podgorbunski, of New York, New York, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a train Friday night in Suffolk County.
Podgorbunski, 54, was killed after she was struck by an Amtrak train near Greenport Friday night.
According to reports, Podgorbunski was walking on the train tracks with another person near south of Albany, when she was fatally struck by the Amtrak Maple Leaf Train 64 around 7:30 p.m. Friday.
According to Amtrak, the train came into contact with two people trespassing on the railroad south of Albany. There were no injuries to Amtrak customers or any crew members.
Information on the other involved pedestrian was not provided.
The deadly incident remains under investigation.
