NEW HAVEN COUNTY, CT. (THECOUNT) — Eliezer Cotto of New Britain, Connecticut, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Friday night vehicle crash in New Haven County.
Cotto, 37, was killed in a single-vehicle Route 15 crash near Meriden late Friday night.
According to reports, Cotto was operating a Dodge Dart on North Broad Street near Amity Street in Meriden, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 10:30 p.m. Friday. The vehicle then made contact with a substantial tree, rolled over and burst into flames.
Cotto was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt and thermal injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
