BOONE COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — UPDATE: A family member of Nicholas Schneider, who was identified as the victim in a Wednesday moped crash in Boone County, Missouri, are claiming the crash was not fatal, as TheCount.com and several other news and radio outlets earlier reported.
Original reports stated that Schneider, 21, of Warrenton, was killed in a moped crash involving a vehicle Wednesday, however, family members have now informed TheCount.com that he remains in critical but stable condition in an area hospital. This is a developing update.
According to reports, Schneider was operating a moped on Troyer Drive & West Green Meadows Road in Columbia, when the moped came into head-on contact with a Ford Explorer, operated by 21-year-old Hannah I. Jawad, of Columbia.
Schneider, who was ejected from the moped during the crash, was transferred to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
Neither Jawad nor her passenger, Jordan A. Farrar, 24, of Columbia, were injured in the wreck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
