ATHENS COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Asher Messer, of Grove City, Ohio, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday morning multi-vehicle crash in Athens County.
Messer, 19, was killed in a vehicle crash involving two pickup trucks in Alexander Township on Sunday morning.
According to reports, Messer was operating a vehicle on OH-33 near Hawks Nest Road in Athens, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes early Sunday. The vehicle then made contact with a pickup truck operated by Joseph C. Fletcher, 32, of Milford, Michigan.
The force of the crash caused Fletcher’s pickup to exited the roadway and roll over.
A third pickup struck debris from the initial incident.
Messer was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Fletcher was transferred to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The third involved driver did not suffer any injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
