NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Dekota Gardell Boney, of Wilmington, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a Monday morning single-vehicle crash in New Hanover County.

Boney, 33, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Wilmington early Monday morning.

According to reports, Boney was operating a vehicle on Piner Road near Myrtle Grove Road in Myrtle Grove, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 2:15 a.m. Monday. The vehicle then made contact with a substantial tree and a dwelling.

Boney was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
