ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Longtime Republican Texas Appeals Court judge, Justice David L. Bridges, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday night Rockwall County vehicle crash involving a suspected DUI driver.
Bridges, 65, was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night after he was struck by an intoxicated driver, identified as, 32-year-old Megan Smith of Royse City.
According to reports, Bridges was operating a vehicle on Interstate 30 in Royse City, when his vehicle was struck by Smith, who was traveling the wrong-way.
Bridges was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Smith was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries. She was later booked on a no-bail order into the Hunt County jail on an intoxication manslaughter charge.
Bridges was elected to the 5th District Court of Appeals in 1996.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
