BENTON COUNTY, WA. (THECOUNT) — Kirk William Wheeler, of Mabton, Washington, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Saturday morning vehicle crash in Benton County.
Wheeler, 61, was killed in an Interstate 82 two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck Saturday morning near Prosser.
According to reports, Wheeler was operating a vehicle on I-82 near Prosser, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes Saturday around 5 a.m. The vehicle then collided head-on with a big-rig.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured in the collision.
Wheeler was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
