SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Zachary McCarthy, of Lindenhurst, New York, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Sunday boat collision in Suffolk County.
McCarthy, 25, was killed in a Sunday in a two-vessel collision near Babylon Great South Bay.
According to reports, McCarthy was aboard a Activator motorboat operated by a 19-year-old Lindenhurst man, when the vessel came into contact with a Boston Whaler, operated by a 58-year-old Farmingdale man near the West Fox Creek Channel in Babylon on Sunday around 3 p.m.
McCarthy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two boat operators were transported to area hospitals in unknown minor condition.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
