ATHENS COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Ashley Angelo, of The Plains, Ohio, and an infant, have been identified as the victims in a double-fatal vehicle crash in Athens County Tuesday afternoon.
Ashley Angelo, and an infant child, were both killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash near Athens. Michael L. Angelo, 34, also of The Plains, was seriously injured in the crash.
According to reports, Michael Angelo was operating a van on US 33 in Athens, when for unknown reasons the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 2 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle then collided head-on with a pickup truck.
Ashley Angelo and the baby were pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Michael Angelo, who became entrapped in the vehicle, was transported to an area hospital with unknown serious injuries.
The driver of the truck was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
