MARION COUNTY, IA. (THECOUNT) — Gary Eugene Bender, of Knoxville, Iowa, has been identified as the victim in a motorcycle crash in Marion County Saturday afternoon.
Bender, 48, was killed in a single-motorcycle crash near Pleasant Grove Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, Bender was operating a motorcycle on State Highway 316 near Cleveland Street in Pleasant Grove, when for unknown reasons, the bike crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 3 p.m. Saturday. The bike then entered the shoulder area causing it to flip over. The rider was ejected and made contact with a tree.
Bender was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
