COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI. (THECOUNT) — Ronald Edward Gilliland, of Hartford, Michigan, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Sunday afternoon crash in Covert Township.
Gilliland, 58, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Eau Claire Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, Gilliland was operating a Chrysler Town and Country in the 4100 block of M-140 Highway near Naomi Rd in Eau Claire, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 3 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle then made contact with a substantial tree.
Gilliland, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
