WILSON COUNTY, TN. (THECOUNT) — William Smallwood, of Lebanon, Tennessee, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Friday morning crash Wilson County.
Smallwood, 18, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 near Mount Juliet early Friday morning.
According to authorities, Smallwood was operating an INFINITI G3S on I-40 in Mount Juliet, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 4:30 a.m. Friday. The vehicle then entered a culvert before going airborne and making contact with a cement barrier.
Smallwood, who was ejected during the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Smallwood was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to crash reports.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
