EVANGELINE PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Joseph Lee Willis of Ville Platte, Louisiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal two-vehicle crash in Evangeline Parish Wednesday morning.
Willis, 31, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a big-rig near Mamou Wednesday morning.
According to reports, Willis was operating a Chevrolet Sonic on State Hwy 13 near Gilbert Street, in Mamou, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 6 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle came into head-on contact with a Peterbilt 18-wheeler.
Willis, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The driver of the Peterbilt was uninjured in the violent crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
