However, on Monday May 4th, 2020, while at home with his family preparing to go to work, Justin collapsed suddenly. Local emergency crews arrived and found him in full cardiac arrest. By the grace of God, and through excellent work by his fellow first responders, Justin was revived and quickly transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. Justin’s troubles did not stop there, as he suffered an additional cardiac arrest event in the emergency room. Hospital staff was able to revive him once more and managed to stabilize his heart. On Tuesday, Justin was transported to U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor where he currently remains on a ventilator and in critical condition. Justin has made small progress over the last few days and has shown signs of improvement. As a result of the cardiac events, Justin’s organs have been slow to recover. He has also faced a few setbacks with infections and a fever. The hospital has ruled out COVID-19 and they continue to run tests to narrow down the root cause.

State Police said Matinkhah worked on the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team.

He is survived by his wife and their two young children.
