MACON COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Sarah E. Mills of Auburn, Alabama, has been identified as the victim in a Macon County crash involving a Franklin fire truck on Interstate 85 Friday morning.
Mills, 21, was killed near Franklin on Friday morning in a multi-vehicle crash that also seriously injured a Franklin volunteer firefighter.
According to reports, Mills was operating a Honda Civic on I-85 near Franklin, when she came into contact with a Franklin Volunteer Fire Department Ford F-350 and a Freightliner semi-tractor around 6 a.m. Friday.
The unnamed firefighter was transported to an area hospital after sustaining serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Mills was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The big-rig driver was uninjured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
