LAKE COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — A double-fatal crash occurred in Lake County, Illinois early Thursday morning after a vehicle traveling the wrong-way on Route 12 collided with a delivery truck.

Two men are dead after a Honda Odyssey traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 12, collided head-on with a Freightliner delivery truck around 2 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to the Wauconda Police Department, the 25-year-old male Honda driver and his 24-year-old male passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The 23-year-old male driver of the delivery truck was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
