HERNANDO COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Derick Albert Vasquez, of Spring Hill, Florida, has been identified as the deceased suspect in a Friday double-murder-suicide involving two young children in Hernando County.
Vasquez, 43, reportedly fatally shot two young children before turning the gun on himself at a Spring Hill home on Friday.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a home located on Dunkirk Road around 10:00 a.m. on Friday after receiving a call from a woman saying Vasquez send her suicidal text messages.
The woman reportedly traveled to the residence to find at least one person dead and the home on fire.
The Hernando County Fire Rescue arrived at the home where they found three dead individuals inside.
Vasquez was found dead along with a boy and a girl.
The investigation remains active at this time.
