PEARL CITY, IL. (THECOUNT) — An unidentified Pearl Valley Eggs employee has been killed while on-duty at the plant on Thursday.

According to the Stephenson County Sheriff, the a worker was killed in an accident at the egg processing facility on Thursday afternoon.

Pearl City Fire and Ambulance responded to an industrial accident at Pearl City Eggs, located at 968 S. Kent Road, around 2:35 p.m. when they arrived, first responders found the worker unresponsive.

The employee was pronounced dead at the scene.

A manner of death was not provided.

The investigation into the death is ongoing.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin.
