AIKEN, SC. (THECOUNT) — Lafayette Williams of Aiken, South Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Friday night drive-by shooting.

Williams, 26, was fatally shot in an apparent drive-by shooting in Aiken County Friday night.

According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, officers responded to a call of shots fired Friday around 10 p.m. on Pickens Street Northwest in Aiken. When first responders arrived, Williams was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police later determined Williams was on-foot in the area of Pickens Street NW, when someone in a passing vehicle opened fire.

Williams was struck by gunfire at least once and was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot injuries.

Officials did not offer any suspect or vehicle description.
