DETROIT, MI. (THECOUNT) — Jason Hargrove, the Detroit, Michigan bus driver who went viral after releasing a video venting about a coughing passenger, has died after contracting coronavirus.

Hargrove, 50, said in a March 21 video that he was upset a female passenger had taken no measures to cover her persistent coughing when she was aboard his bus.

“For us to get through this and get over this, y’all need to take this seriously,” he said with an expletive thrown in. … There’s folks dying out here.”

Four days later Hargrove contracted COVID-19. He died on Wednesday.

It isn’t clear how he contracted COVID-19.

Hargrove posted his video before the mayor ordered the changes. “It’s something that I’m going to think about for a long time,” the mayor later commented.
