VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. (THECOUNT) — Alvin Lamont Baum, or Norfolk, Virginia, has been identified as the man shot and killed by Virginia Beach police in the process of being arrested on a felony warrant.

Baum, 22, was fatally shot on Friday as Norfolk Police officers attempted to take him into custody. The statement from officials noted a handgun was recovered “nearby.”

Officers administered first aid, but were unable to revive Baum, according to a Virginia Beach police spokesperson.

Police did not identify the involved officers. No further details were provided in the deadly incident.

The Virginia Beach Police Department Investigative Division, the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney and the Office of Internal Affairs are investigating, reports Richmond.
