CHACKBAY, LA. (THECOUNT) — Herbert Diggs, of Thibodaux, Louisiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Friday night vehicle crash that also took the life of 71-year-old, Wayne Morvant, of Schriever.

Diggs, 50 and Morvant were both killed in a three-vehicle crash in Chackbay Friday night, State Police said.


According to reports, Diggs was operating a Ford Explorer Sport on La. 20 near Tower Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes. Diggs’ vehicle then collided with Morvant head-on.

A Chevrolet Trailblazer then collided with Diggs’ disabled vehicle.

Diggs and Morvant were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Trailblazer and five passengers were wearing seat belts and suffered minor injuries, reports DailyComet.

Impairment is unknown but toxicology samples were taken from the drivers to be tested.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
