CUSTER COUNTY, CO. (THECOUNT) — Michael Lynn Van Winkle of Aurora, Colorado, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in Custer County, Colorado.
Van Winkle, 49, was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon on CO-165.
According to police, Van Winkle was operating a Harley Davidson on CO-165 in Custer County, when for unknown reasons, he crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 1:15 p.m. Saturday. The bike then traveled down and embankment and rolled over multiple times, ejecting Van Winkle.
Van Winkle was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
CSP says, Van Winkle wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Troopers say that alcohol and drugs aren’t considered to be factors in the accident, reports KRDO.
According to Facebook, Van Winkle lived in Las Vegas, Nevada before relocating to Colorado in 2015.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
