DAVIDSON COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Lexington pastor, Rev. Edwin Chriscoe, was not injured in a Thursday vehicle crash that killed his wife, Callie, in Davidson County Thursday night. The Pastor was not involved in the crash and is currently recovering from recent heart surgery in an area hospital.
Pastor’s wife, Callie McDowell Chriscoe, 83, was killed in a three-vehicle crash near Cotton Grove Thursday. Earlier reports named Pastor Chriscoe as being one of several people injured in the multi-vehicle crash. This information has since been proven false, according to the couple’s granddaughter, Maegan Chriscoe.

Callie was airlifted to an area hospital where she reportedly died enroute, according to family members.
An unidentified individual involved in the crash was injured along with a child.
According to officials, Callie was operating a Honda SUV on NC-8 in Cotton Grove around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes. The Honda then made contact with a Ford Van, operated by 36-year-old Jason McKinley Heitman, of Lexington. An adult and a child were traveling as passengers.
The third vehicle involved struck debris from the initial crash.
The extent of the other victim’s injuries was not provided by officials as of Friday.
According to Maegan Chriscoe, her grandmother was enroute to the hospital and had not complained of experiencing any pain, when she suddenly closed her eyes and passed away, seemingly peacefully.
Pastor Chriscoe learned of his wife’s passing shortly after getting out of bed for the first time since undergoing triple-bypass surgery – Just days before the crash, according to his granddaughter.
The beloved Pastor of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church has served there since 2001.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
