BLOUNT COUNTY, TN. (THECOUNT) — Bangor, Maine teen, Maiah Reilich-Godino, has been Identified as the victim in a fatal fall from a moving vehicle while visiting Blount County, Tennessee on Tuesday.

Reilich-Godino, 18, was killed after falling out of a moving vehicle traveling on the Foothills Parkway near Tallassee, Tennessee, according to Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials.

Rangers responded to reports of a vehicle ejection on Foothills Parkway between Chilhowee Lake and Look Rock, in Tallassee 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3. When officials arrived, they determined Reilich-Godino was sitting in an open window of a moving Jeep Patriot when she fell from the vehicle after the roof rack she was clinging to gave way.

The driver and front-seat passenger, the only other occupants of the vehicle, were not injured during the deadly incident, according to officials.

Reilich-Godino was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Park Rangers are in the process of completing the accident investigation.
