PHOENIX, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Felix Cardoza, of Buckeye, Arizona, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Phoenix street racing crash Tuesday night.
Cardoza, 18, was killed in a street racing crash on State Route 51 in Phoenix, according to the Department of Public Safety.
According to reports, the crash happened on State Route 51 near East Shea Boulevard around 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Cardoza was racing another car when his Audi veered off the right side of the freeway. The Audi slammed into a concrete retaining wall and then rolled back onto the roadway. When the car finally came to a stop, it was blocking the HOV lane and the lane next to it under the Shea Boulevard overpass, reports AZFamily.
Aerial video from the Arizona’s Family’s News Chopper shows Cardoza’s Audi on its roof.
The crash was so severe the involved vehicle was nearly unrecognizable. Its engine was seen in the lanes next to it.
Officials said witnesses helped troopers find the second car involved in the race. It was on the northbound off-ramp for Shea Boulevard. There were two people in that car, but investigators have not released their names.
