DANNEMORA, NY. (THECOUNT) — An unknown number of Clinton Correctional Facility staff members were transported to area hospitals after an unknown substance was found inside of a letter Friday morning.
The incident prompted several local and state authorities to respond in an active hazmat situation at the Clinton Correctional Annex on Friday.
Department of Corrections and Community Supervision officials say an unknown substance was found inside of a letter Friday morning, causing “a number” of staff to feel ill and be taken to an outside hospital, reports MyNBC5.
A local hazmat team, New York State Police and the DOCCS Office of Special Investigations are on the scene.
The facility is located at, 1156 Cook St in Dannemora, NY.
