GRANT PARK, IL. (THECOUNT) — Michael Latty., of Momence, Illinois, has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash in Kankakee County on Sunday.
Latty, 41, was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Illinois Route IL-1 East & 10500N Road, Grant Park, IL on Sunday, according to Illinois State Police District 21.
The fatal crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. after a GMC 2500 pickup operated by Ismael Aldape, 50, Oak Lawn.
Aldape was traveling south on Route 1, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes. Aldape’s vehicle then collided with a Chevrolet Cruze operated by Latty.
Aldape and two passengers in the pickup, a 51-year-old woman and a 14-year female, both of Oak Lawn, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, reports DailyJournal.
Latty was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Aldape was cited for improper lane usage.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
