HUERFANO COUNTY, CO. (THECOUNT) — Michael Mathason of Gardner, Colorado, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Huerfano County, Colorado Saturday night.

Mathason, 54, originally from Waynesburg, PA, was killed in a Saturday night crash on CO-69, according to Sunday morning reports.

Colorado State Patrol says, Mathason was operating a GMC Suburban on CO-69, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle then rolled over and came to a rest after colliding with a fence.

Mathason was ejected from the vehicle during the violent crash.

Mathason was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

He was not wearing his seat belt and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to KRDO.
