COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — Jonathan Mitchell, of Eastmoor, Ohio, has been identified as the victim in a double-fatal crash in Columbus early Sunday morning.

Mitchell, 51, was killed in a vehicle crash along with an unidentified woman in the area of 488 Hamilton Ave on Sunday morning.

According to officials, police responded to reports of a burglary alarm around 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning on Hamilton Ave. When they arrived, police discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a building.

Mitchell and the female passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Police determined Mitchell was operating a vehicle when he exited I-71 on to Leonard Avenue. For unknown reasons, the vehicle lost control, struck a tree and made contact with the building.

The Franklin County Coroner’s office is in the process of identifying the female passenger, reports Dispatch.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
