MARSHALL CITY, TX (THECOUNT) — Marlon Alexander Zavala, of Houston, Texas, has been identified as the suspect arrested Saturday over a Friday hit-and-run that left an elderly woman dead in Marshall City.
Zavala, 40, has been charged after allegedly fatally striking the senior who was crossing the street near Missouri City, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday.
The suspect was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal autoped, a second degree felony.
According to officials, the fatal incident occurred around 6 p.m. Friday in the area of FM 1092 and Stafford Run Road after the woman was attempting to cross the street when Zavala’s Honda CRV struck her. He then fled the scene.
In surveillance video obtained by ABC13, Zavala is seen pulling into a nearby parking lot shortly after the impact.
Alexander was located around 9:45 p.m. and charged Saturday morning.
