MADISON, WI. (THECOUNT) — Nicholas Day, of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, has been identified as the young man found dead alongside a rural road in Dane County on Wednesday afternoon.

Day, 26, was found dead as a result of “homicidal violence,” according to officials Thursday evening.

Dane County deputies initially believed Day was the victim of a hit-and-run crash after his body was discovered in County Highway JG near Bergum Road in the town of Blue Mounds.

Anyone in that area between 12:45 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. Wednesday is asked to call the Dane County Communications Center non-emergency line at 608-255-2345 or the tip line for the Dane County Sheriff’s Office at 608-284-6900. Callers can remain anonymous, reports Channel3000.
