BALAS, IRAQ. (THECOUNT) — At least seven missiles struck the Iraqi military base in Balad, Iraq, on Sunday, 50 miles north of Baghdad, where U.S. soldiers are located, international media reported.

The air base was attacked with Katyusha-type rockets, with which at least five generals were injured. Although some US military officers remain on-base, most had departed the site within the last few days.

Security Cell Media, the military news office confirmed that the members of his army were the victims of this attack, but so far no casualties have been reported among their ranks, reports tvazteca.

They said that the explosives fell on a takeoff and landing strip, not in a high traffic area, so no major damage was recorded among the occupants of the facilities.
