TN Man Jeffrey Curtis ID’d As Victim In Fatal Greeneville Police Pursuit Crash Friday

GREENEVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — Jeffrey Adam Curtis, of Morristown, TN, has been identified as the victim in a fatal police-pursuit crash in Greeneville Friday afternoon.

Curtis, 28, was killed following a police-pursuit in Greeneville that started after he failed to stop during a traffic stop.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Curtis was killed when he lost control of his car and crashed in Greeneville Friday afternoon.

Curtis was not wearing a seatbelt when his Honda Civic crashed behind a house near the intersection of Main Street and Laurel Street, according to WJHL.

State troopers say Greene County deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle while searching the area for someone else, but Curtis fled instead of stopping.

Deputies lost sight of Curtis’s vehicle during the pursuit but later found the crashed Honda after witnesses pointed them in the direction the car was heading, according to THP.

Curtis was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers aren’t sure why he fled from deputies.

No other injuries were reported.
