BROOKLINE TOWNSHIP, MO. (THECOUNT) — Brookline, Missouri man, Seth Bateman, has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash near Springfield Monday afternoon, according to Tuesday reports.

Bateman, 24, was killed after being involved in a vehicle crash on Farm Road 124 in Greene County Monday around 5:30 p.m.

Troopers say, Bateman was operating a Honda Civic when he cut in front of a Chevrolet pickup and then applied the brakes.

Bateman’s Civic was then hit from behind by the pickup, causing the Honda to lose control and exit the roadway. The vehicle the struck a culvert and rolled over.

Bateman was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The report says Bateman and his passenger, Taylor Bateman, were ejected from the vehicle. Taylor Bateman was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, reports NewsLeader.

Both victims were listed in the report as not wearing seatbelts.

Per state law, the driver of the pickup truck was tested for alcohol, according to the report.
