BATON ROUGE, LA. (THECOUNT) — Angela Haymon, of 16623 Morel Ave, Baton Rouge, LA, has been identified as the victim brutally shot dead while she stand in her carport Monday night. A 15-year-old male has been arrested in the deadly shooting.

Officials say, the teen shot and killed 74-year-old Haymon in Woodlawn Acres area of Baton Rouge. The teen suspect was then injured by gunfire, Monday night.

Officials say a 15-year-old intruder approached Haymon around 9:38 p.m. and shot and killed her while she was in her carport, near Woodlawn Acres Park.

Haymon had exited her residence after hearing a commotion outside.

A short time later, her husband heard gunfire, so he armed himself with a gun and confronted the intruder.

As the teen and the older man exchanged gunfire, the teen was struck by gunfire.

Injured, the young man fled the scene and sought assistance from a nearby residence.

Shortly after this, the teen was taken to an area hospital for treatment, reports WBRZ.

Deputies say when the unidentified teen is released from the hospital, he will be charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, attempted armed robbery, and illegal use of a weapon.
