According to officials, a Nissan Xterra was traveling on 57th Avenue near Indian School Road when the vehicle attempted to perform a left turn, officials said Saturday morning.

The Nissan was then broadsided by a Jeep Laredo driven by a man traveling on Indian School Road, police said.

Raya was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and was then struck as she lay injured in the roadway by a Hyundai Elantra that was traveling behind the Jeep.

The man driving the Hyundai knew that he hit something but did not see what it was and he pulled into a nearby business. He walked back down to the scene and remained there as first responders arrived, reports AZCentral.

Raya was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver, as well as the driver and passenger in the Jeep, suffered minor injuries.

The drivers of each vehicle were released pending results of lab analysis and additional investigation.
